Quality Inspector - 2nd Shift 

Performs inspection verification and monitors processes associated with the Operations activity. Supports activities in the hold area and acts as the Quality Liaison to the plant floor personnel. Participates in Continuous Improvement activities to support company objectives.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Conducts all elements under the Quality Inspector section of the Start Up procedure and verification of entire First Shot Approval requirement as well as Last Shot requirement.
  • Verifies Plastic Technicians are effectively conducting part inspections to the Operator Instruction Sheets.
  • Conducts lab testing that is required per the Operator Instruction Sheet (such as micrometers, gauges, etc)   
  • Creates Internal Quality Alert on the plant floor for reported part quality issues.
  • Document inspection results and comments related to part quality issue in Raypro (software system) and other forms of reporting accordingly.
  • Puts suspect product on hold, verifies inspection is conducted per requirements and releases from hold when verification is complete.
  • Ensures Plastic Technician follows quality directives (OIS, Quality Alert, Raypro entries, etc.).
  • Provide knowledge of process and product quality to plastic technician.
  • Perform daily audit of Process Technician with effective part inspection, gage use, reporting tools and systems.
  • Perform containment activities and laboratory testing as required, using the provided testing equipment.
  • Perform internal audit according to schedule.
  • Maintains documented inspection and test results in electronic archive.
  • Maintains internal concern log for areas of responsibility.
  • Maintains the order of gage storage and First Shot/Last Shot bins.
  • Maintains reliability of “rabbit” master samples for poke-yoke.
  • Communicate quality issues (and other quality related items) on shift communication meetings.
  • Performs any other Quality related function or duty as requested.
  • Assists in disposition of product on hold and assist the Quality Engineer and Coordinator as required.
  • Assists the Quality Engineer & Operation Team with Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Validation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager and Quality Supervisor.

 

Education and experience

  • High School Diploma
  • 1+ year previous experience in a Quality related position preferred
  • Manufacturing experience required.
  • Experience using assigned lab equipment and test procedures.

 

Skills and requirements

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Able to lift 55 pounds.
  • Standing, bending, lifting, and walking on a cement floor daily. 
  • Ability to visually inspect parts with accuracy.
  • Use of computer with some repetitive mouse use, keyboarding, and visual demands.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
