About the job

The material handler will be responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials and products within the warehouse while ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all job functions.

 

Roles and responsibilities – 

  • Load, unload, and move material by means of electric powered forklift for production. 
  • Move, pack, and prepare product for shipping.
  • Must be able to read work orders and follow oral instructions. 
  • Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Transport material from storage or work sites to designated area. 
  • Attach identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
  • Stack or assemble materials into bundles and band bundles together.
  • Clamp sections of portable conveyor together or places conveyor sections on blocks or boxes to facilitate movement of materials or products.
  • Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Inventory materials on work floor and supply operations with materials as needed.
  • Weigh materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
  • Follow Safety protocols according to EHS ensuring compliance with all written programs
  • Recharge batteries or replaces liquefied gas tank.
  • Escalate inventory discrepancies, contamination, and other material-related issues to supervisor. 

•     Keep area and material section clean and free of clutter utilizing 5S methodology. 

•     Safely operate standard and electric pallet trucks, powered industrial truck, trash compactor and         cardboard baler. 

•     Other duties as assigned. 

 

*If holding the truck driver position the following is required:

  • Drive truck to destination.      Prepare receipts for load picked up.
  • Maintain truck log according to state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.  Load and unload truck.
  • Inspect truck equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, water and maintain daily check logs.

 

*If holding a dock/warehouse position the following is required

  • Read shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Sort and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production facility.
  • Mark materials with identifying information.
  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Use computer to enter records.

 

Education, Experience and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent Attendance Record
  • Proven drive, ambition, and positive mindset.
  • Proven alertness, precision, and methodical attributes.
  • Proven high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
